Happy New Year! Today will be New Year’s Eve, and most people have a list of resolutions for the new year, something to improve themselves if they stick to it. I don’t normally do resolutions, although I do have a few things that have been working for me lately that I’d like to keep doing.

1. Eat more fruits and veggies. I just feel better, and have been doing it already for the last couple of months and like it.

2. Exercise. With -20C outside and living in an apartment, this generally turns into me running up and down the stairs till I’m out of breath. It’s something.

3. Keep writing. I’ve been doing that since I was six, so it’s kind of a no-brainer.

4. Make the most of these last 9 months before… (ha!) my son goes to school. (That was mean. Sorry!)

I wish had something more earth-shaking, like a resolution that will completely change my life, but I don’t. If I declared a resolution to go to the gym or learn a new language, I wouldn’t do it anyway. Maybe I would for the first week or two, but I’d lose my momentum because I wouldn’t really want to do those things.  I do the things I love to do for the people I love, and I do it with my whole heart. That’s the sort of resolution I can stick to for 2013.

How about you? Do you have any resolutions for this new year?
