There is a quote that says, “I don’t know what I think until I write it down.” It has been attributed to many different authors, possibly because they’ve all said something similar. Writing does have a way of culling down your thoughts unto something clearer. For me, it’s a little different. I often don’t know what I think until it comes out mid-lecture. Thanks to my almost 7 year old.

Today, the lecture was one after an adventurous grocery shopping trip. (Don’t even ask!) But the little gem that emerged that left me thinking, “Yes, yes, that’s it! That’s exactly what I’m trying to say!” was this:

You were not put on this planet to be entertained. You are here to be a helper.

Sec._of_Ag._Orville_Freeman_providing_a_helping_hand_to_Mrs,_Freeman,_1965_(5187278835)I truly do believe that. If we aren’t of use to someone on this planet… if someone isn’t happier because we were in their life… if we can’t make someone else’s life just a little bit easier, then we’re doing it wrong.
