Apparently, we’re doing a lot of travelling this summer! Well… it’s a lot for us. We’re a family of home bodies. After our day trip to Banff, Alberta, we took a week and went to Vancouver Island, BC!
It was a gorgeous trip! Vancouver Island, being an island, is just full of beaches. And they are all so beautiful! Rocks, waves, towering trees… I’m originally from BC, and I’d forgotten the sound of wind in the trees.
That’s our teenager enjoying the view from a rock. It was a hazy day that day, but most of the time we were there we got gorgeous sun!
This last photo is of me at Munro’s Books in Victoria. Alice Munro, a big Canadian Lit author, and her husband started this bookstore! It’s a gorgeous bookstore with a rather limited romance section, I must say. But still… a lovely bookstore!
We had a great time! It was nice to have that family time and to see some family in BC, too! There were people my husband of 18 years had never met in person! Can you believe that? So we fixed that.
We were at at cousin’s home, and as Canadians, we all took off our shoes when we came in. I looked back at the door, and there were eight pairs of Birkenstock sandals sitting there! That’s some local flavour for you. People from BC love their Birkenstocks. And so do I! (That’s something my husband had to get used to, but when he tried some Birks, too, he was hooked! They are SO comfy!)
So there you have it–our trip! I’m now back at my desk, hammering away on my latest story.
