Homemade tater tots

These homemade tater tots are a Johns family favorite! Because of allergies, we have trouble getting tater tots we can eat, so I’ve taken to making them from scratch.

And are they ever good!

Ingredients:

10-12 potatoes shredded

1/2 cup corn starch

1-2 tbsp salt

3-4 tbsp seasoning*

Enough canola oil to deep fry

Directions:

Preheat a pan with canola in it. You want about 1/2 inch of oil in the bottom of it. You want your pan on medium heat.

Grate your potatoes into a bowl with a towel inside to line it. They don’t need to be peeled. Then squeeze out the extra potato water and put your grated potato in a dry bowl.

Next add your corn starch, salt and seasoning.

Make small balls out of the mixture in your hand and put them in hot oil to cook. Flip them when they are browned.

Serve hot.

*Whatever seasoning you like works! BBQ seasoning tastes great with these. Or you can use garlic powder and onion powder. Sometimes Costco has some great spice mixes that are really tasty, and they all work well in these!
