Canadian winters are cold. There is no way around it. But I do love that cold weather because it lets me hole up with my computer and work on a book. I don’t even feel tempted to go outside!

I live in central Alberta, Canada. (Technically, it’s northern Alberta. A short drive from Edmonton.) And one chilly evening last week, my mother and I were standing in a Costco parking lot. It was -20C without factoring in windchill, and the wind was blowing, but we could feel a difference.
Me: It’s warming up, isn’t it?
Mom: I think it is.
Me: The wind feels warmer.
Mom: It does. It’s not as cold. You can breathe in it. This is nice.
And that, dear reader, is how a Canadian talks about the weather while bundled up in parkas and mukluks. We also knew that the weather app was calling for the temperature to rise. It went up to -10C the next day! (And that is downright balmy after a few days of deep freeze.)
So that is how a Canadian author writes so much. There’s no temptation to go outside! You just cozy up with something hot to drink and a shawl around your shoulders, and feel grateful for being inside. It doesn’t hurt that I love writing books, too… 😉
I hope you’ll check out my books! If you enjoy romance with the warmth of family, the soft ping of a stove pipe, and characters who truly deserve a Happily Ever After, you just might like mine!
Happy reading!
