Unshaken by Shelley Shepard Gray is a romantic suspense that starts with a bang. When a young Amish woman witnesses a murder, she has a gang on her tail wanting to silence her before she testify against them. When a social worker happens upon her and whisks her away from the scene of the crime, nothing will ever be the same again for Stephanie Miller.
This book is definitely an Amish Adjacent story. You’ve heard me talk about this sort of story before–but Shelley spins this genre a little differently. With one of the four main characters being an Amish woman, we do get a glimpse into the Amish world, and it isn’t a sweet or reassuring one! The other three characters are all English, and their varying relationships to God and spirituality add depth to the tale.
But the story is quickly moving one. I read this book in two sittings, and thoroughly enjoyed the story. I’d say that this book starts off quite gritty, but the telling is much more gentle than you might anticipate (so don’t be scared off if you think it sounds too scary!), and the focus is on the developing relationships–there are TWO! So if you enjoy romance, you get the satisfaction of two couples finding their way to each other. I won’t give away the plot. I’ll let you enjoy the journey.
Shelley Shepard Gray has a huge following of loyal readers for good reason! Pick up her latest book to see why! It is out now!
Happy reading!
