Connecting Through Literature: My Journey with Judy Stavisky

No author is an island, and I’ve been blessed with some really great author pals. Judy Stavisky is one of them. I met her online after I read her book, In Plain View, which is a fascinating yet sensitive peek into the lives of real Amish women. I saw her name when she posted a comment in a group I was a part of, and I mentioned that I’d read (and loved!) her book.

We started chatting, and got to be friends. Honestly, other authors are the only ones who really understand this job. And when I asked Judy if she could help me find some answers about the Amish attitudes towards swimming, she generously asked some Amish friends of hers.

And that was the start of Still Waters. So when the book was published, I had to mention Judy in the Author’s Note at the end of the book. It was only right!

I hope you’ll pick up Still Waters, which is a story about family secrets. And if you’d like to read a really fascinating true life look into the lives of Amish women, grab In Plain View, too. It’s on my shelf here at home, and I highly recommend it.

Happy reading!
