I’m not normally our parrot’s first choice of person to hang out with. I’m definitely his second favourite, though! And I’ll take what I can get.
I was working on some edits, and Pichu felt snuggly. I managed to get a few pictures! (Normally, he’s pretty camera shy.)

Pichu is a very sweet Quaker parrot. He’s full of energy, enjoys to holler when he can get away with it, and has a strict hierarchy of humans in his life. Our son, JC, is his reason for being. He adores JC! But I’m the one who gives him food and changes his cage, and keeps things rolling around here, so he seems to acknowledge that with some affection from time to time. He also loves Mr. Johns, but they have a more cautious relationship. Mr. Johns doesn’t trust that beak! (I can’t say I blame him…)
Pichu has the intelligence of a toddler, I think. He can say a few phrases that he uses in context to communicate, and he enjoys watching toddler shows on TV. In the Night Garden is his favourite, and I’ll put the TV on for him when I go out so he doesn’t get too bored on his own. He loves a rousing game of peek-a-boo, but he does require you to play by the rules and actually hide your face. He hides his, too–it’s only right. 😉
So this is my little writing buddy who will sometimes sit on my shoulder as I write those sweet, swoony romances. He’s great company!
Have you tried one of my books yet? Check them out! You might find your next read!
Happy reading!
