My son is a writer, too. He’s been writing stories since he was a kid, and reading since he was a toddler. So stories and words have been a part of his world for as long as he can remember. For his entire life, Mom has been writing books around him, so that it just felt normal to him. But his love of writing wasn’t because I parented it into him. I really can’t take credit for it! He’s always just loved putting words on paper.
We couldn’t be prouder of him. He writes Sci-Fi, and this year he managed to get his first publishing credit–a story in an Sci-Fi magazine. That is a huge accomplishment for anyone, let alone a high school student.
I love having another writer in the family. He’s definitely a son after my own heart, and when he turned eighteen, one of the gifts we got for him were these pen nib cuff links.
Aren’t they great? I got a picture the last time he wore them.
This is what life is like in the Johns home. Lots of reading. Lots of books. Lots of writing. We’re a family of bookworms!
